Hump Day Thought: You Are Not Your Label
This morning I’ve been reading about diagnosis, and it really hit me.
A diagnosis can be helpful. It can give people language, understanding, support and direction.
But here’s the danger…
Sometimes we start becoming the label.
“I am anxious.”“I am depressed.”“I have ADHD.”“I’m broken.”“This is just who I am.”
No.
You are not your diagnosis you are not your darkest thought you are not the worst chapter of your life.
A label might explain part of what you’re experiencing, but it should never become your identity.
You are still a person with potential, purpose, strength, humour, love, pain, dreams and a future.
So today, on hump day, remember this:
Use the label if it helps you understand yourself.
But don’t let it become a cage.
Keep going. Keep speaking. Keep building yourself back up.
One step at a time.
Big love,Alfie
