Just a little letting go practice
I've spoken with a lot of you and can hear how, after trial and error, there are still feelings and emotions that take control during a trade. You will be sitting in the trade, and it's moving within a range and not going in the direction you want it to. In that moment, you decide to bring up your stop loss as you 'feel' the momentum is gone, for it to then hit the stop loss, bounce and move in the direction you were aiming for. Then, with that loss, you increase your risk to recover the loss and then lose that too. Leaving you even further in a place of frustration. What if in that moment before you started doubting your initial analysis, you had a way to check in with yourself? Well, this is what I use, and maybe it might help you. 5 Simple questions designed to help you understand what's coming up and let it go. 1. What am I feeling right now? (Label it and notice when in the body it is) 2. Can I allow this feeling to be there? (No judgment, simply allow the feeling) 3. Could I let this go if I wanted to? 4. Would I be willing to let this go? 5. When would I want to let this go? If by the time you get to question 5 and the answer is NOW, If that’s your answer, you speak it to yourself and then you consciously relax the body, breathe into the area where the feeling was occurring, and dissolve it/let it go by placing your presence there. Nothing more, nothing less. This is the course of steps that work to remove the scars that are prevalent in your inner world/consciousness. Normally we don’t embrace experience through this perspective. Instead of feeling the feelings, we suppress or ignore the feeling. Instead of allowing the feeling, we judge ourselves. Instead of letting go, we hold on. This, in return, results in us accumulating tons of unnecessary garbage which greatly limits our potential and keeps us stuck repeating the same patterns.
