My process for writing these longform stories
Had another one of these longform stories hit this weekend
Here's my rough process for writing these:
- find a real, cringey post to parody (LinkedIn Lunatics account is a good place to start)
- open up with some dramatic sounding first line (it's best if you slip the word 'billionaire' or some large sum of money in there)
- make the 2nd or 3rd line some ridiculous detail that has nothing to do with the actual story (the spaghetti kiss part, in this case)
- break it up into as many short lines as possible for dramatic effect
- story ends with someone having a name that isn't actually a person's name
