My process for writing these longform stories
Had another one of these longform stories hit this weekend https://x.com/chasedownleads/status/2071243437374845264?s=20 Here's my rough process for writing these: - find a real, cringey post to parody (LinkedIn Lunatics account is a good place to start) - open up with some dramatic sounding first line (it's best if you slip the word 'billionaire' or some large sum of money in there) - make the 2nd or 3rd line some ridiculous detail that has nothing to do with the actual story (the spaghetti kiss part, in this case) - break it up into as many short lines as possible for dramatic effect - story ends with someone having a name that isn't actually a person's name

@Brian Dolan you can definitely use it but I think you have to add your own twist or flavor to make it your own! I definitely borrow formats from others but I always do something to give it that Chase style
1.9MM impression on this stupid post
it's always the dumbest stuff that goes viral. I was down the shore with my fam and I laughed to myself about the whole "market price" thing on menus one night while we were at dinner, so I fired this off: https://x.com/chrisorzy/status/2068787907599507818?s=20 Didn't generate any new business, obviously. but now Im only ~500k impressions away from being monetized, so that's pretty cool, I guess

Haha that’s a good one. But yeah it’s always the simple stuff that goes viral
Stuck at Zero
Alright nerds, I guess I'll start. Rn I'm not seeing $10 of value but if one of y'all can solve this problem, I'll give Charlie another month lol. I started writing on Medium a couple years ago. I leaned very heavy into AI and was getting good traction. My whole strategy was Google seo and it was working. I turned on monetization and things were working great for like a week until Medium changed their paywall method. Free users used to get up to 3 daily paid articles. Now it's zero. My Google bounce rate tanked and so did my viewership. At this point, I was having fun with the process, so I decided to actually write what I cared about. AI was used for research or for improving readability, but I was doing the writing. I was making pretty consistently $20+ a month on the low-end, and that's with a very small following (I'm still under 300 followers on Medium). My big mistake was not making an email list, but oh well. Live and learn, right? Anyway, all that to say that I have the infrastructure setup now. I have a Gumroad for ebook leads. I have a substack created to double post my articles. I have a bunch of outlines and ideas written, but I can't for the life of me get myself to write. I now have two kids, a full time job as a teacher, and a part time job with my church. I'm always exhausted and always tired. I know what to do. I know even something like 10-15 minutes a day would be enough to get the ball rolling. I just can't bring myself to sit in front of my computer and write. I'm going through some family stuff so I know I have some kind of acute depression going on with all that, but still, the struggle with executive functioning is very frustrating. Has anyone been in a similar situation before? How do I get out of this slump and get back writing? Any thoughts or tips?

Did you try substack as well? Feel like it’s similar to what medium used to be in terms of the platform helping you with pushing new readers to you
Fake scam texts
Been having a lot of success with this format lately The formula is an Obvious scam text, but with the implication that I fell for it
