Hello! Chris here from Omaha, NE.
I started riding about 5 months ago (Used 2023 Royal Enfield INT650) and knew I would enjoy it (been a car guy for a long time, and I've had my motorcycle endorsement for 10+ years), but I didn't realize HOW MUCH I would enjoy it. Not just the riding itself, either; but everything that comes along with it.
Customizing the bike, becoming more skilled at different kinds of riding (slow speed, twisties, night time, highway, group riding, off-road, etc.), self-maintaining the bike, learning about safety gear, the travel and exploring aspect, geographical knowledge of my area, building my own routes in a mapping app, etc. There's so much more to it than people realize!
Starting out, I knew I would be safety-minded about riding, so I got a known beginner friendly bike, geared up head to toe, and ended up watching DDFM and picking up the SMART rider book with the cones for practice before I made my way out of the neighborhood roads and a church parking lot onto the public city roads and eventually highways.
It's been a great ride so far, and I'm sure it'll continue to be!
