There was a woman who joined the Peace Corps and went to teach in a small village in Africa, many miles inland from the ocean. As the holidays approached, she told her students about a tradition she had grown up with of giving small gifts to people you care about. The children loved the idea and decided they would exchange gifts with one another. On the last day before the holiday, one of the boys came up to her with a small gift wrapped in a leaf. When she opened it, she found a beautiful seashell. She was touched, but also puzzled. She said, “This is so beautiful… but how did you get a seashell? We’re so far from the ocean!” And the boy replied, “Walked. Got it for you.” She realized then that he had walked all the way to the ocean and back… nearly 120 MILES …just to bring her that gift. Overwhelmed, she said, “That’s such a long walk!" And the boy simply said, “Long walk part of gift"
