I wanted to give you a sneak peek at two pages from the Founder's Edition. Meet Bella. Our first-ever Pet of the Month! Because let's face it, pet parents love bragging about their fur babies, and honestly, we love hearing their stories. ❤️ Yes, Bella is a real pet! 🐾 And... For those that do not know, my oldest son passed away due to an accident, my surviving son is a detective. I come from a military/law enforcement family. So this was a must! "Heroes on Both Ends of the Leash" This issue features our first ever Hero of the Month, a tribute to K9 Knight, a Chesterfield County, VA Police Department K9 who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. He is the most recent K9 in the U.S. to be killed in the line of duty. I have to admit... Creating K9 Knight's tribute brought tears to my eyes. His story is a reminder that some heroes wear a badge and some wear a collar. This magazine is becoming so much more than I imagined. It will be education. It will be science. It will be community. It will celebrate the pets who enrich our lives. It will celebrate YOUR pet globally. And it's honoring the animals who serve, protect, comfort, and inspire us every day. Let's talk about one of life's great mysteries... You stand up. Your pets are asleep. You take three steps toward the bathroom. Suddenly, they're awake, alert, and acting like you're embarking on a dangerous expedition that requires supervision. But why? Contrary to popular belief, your pet isn't necessarily worried you'll fall into the toilet and never return. Many animals are naturally social creatures. They pay attention to where their family members are, what they're doing, and whether everyone is safe. Some pets also learn that wherever you go, interesting things happen, food appears, treats magically materialize, and belly rubs are often available. Following behavior can be a normal sign of bonding and attachment. However, if your pet becomes distressed when they can't see you, paces, vocalizes excessively, or struggles to settle when you're gone, that may point to a deeper issue involving stress, anxiety, or nervous system dysregulation. Here's tonight's thought: Is your pet following you because they enjoy your company, or because they don't feel secure without you? The difference matters. And yes, your pet will probably continue standing guard while you brush your teeth.
