Most people are very good at noticing what they haven't done.
The unfinished jobs.
The mistakes.
The things they could have done better.
But when was the last time you stopped and acknowledged what you have done?
Finished the school run?
Pat yourself on the back.
Had a difficult conversation?
Pat yourself on the back.
Went for the walk even though you didn't feel like it?
Pat yourself on the back.
Your mind responds surprisingly well to encouragement.
A bit like a child proudly showing you a drawing.
You don't point out what's wrong.
You smile.
You encourage,
You celebrate the effort.
Then they want to do more.
Perhaps it's time we treated ourselves with the same kindness.
