Fun fact: Gummy candies were originally marketed as “dancing bears.” 💃🧸
In 1922, a German candy maker named Hans Riegel (founder of Haribo — short for HAns RIegel BOnn) created the first gummy bears. They were inspired by trained dancing bears that performed at festivals in Europe. The original bears were bigger, leaner, and way less squishy than today’s snackable little sugar pillows. (And probably not as tasty! 😆)
