Here’s a great reframe from the brilliant Molly Mahoney and it’s such a timely reminder for all of us deep in the world of AI, content, tools and workflows:
The tool is not the point. The outcome is.
With new AI platforms dropping almost weekly, it’s easy to get caught in the comparison loop.
We start thinking the right tool will make or break our success. But the truth?
👉 Most strategies work across platforms.
👉 Your goals, workflow and what you’re trying to build should lead the decision.
👉 And the biggest risk is mistaking endless “research” for real progress.
We’ve seen this inside our community too: people overwhelmed by options, switching tools every month, getting stuck chasing the next “better” feature, instead of just shipping the thing.
So here’s a better way to look at it:
🔍 First, ask: What am I really building? Are you trying to…
Launch a paid offer or lead magnet fast?
Build a workflow or internal tool to support your biz?
Create a long-term scalable product with embedded AI?
Add personality and vibe to your brand presence?
Each of those has different requirements and there’s no one right tool for all of it.
Some tools are amazing for rapid visual design. Others are perfect for building robust automations. Others shine in simplicity or community features or data integrations.
✨ Use the one that helps you move.
🚫 And let’s stop the tool shame.
Whether you’re using Notion or Softr, ChatGPT or Claude, Canva or Runway, Motion or ClickUp… it’s all valid if it’s working for you.
Sales don’t come from the “fanciest” stack. They come from shipping, testing, and showing up.
So instead of comparing tools like sports teams maybe the better question is:
“What’s the simplest tool I can use to build momentum today?”
Then stick with it long enough to learn it. Run your strategy. See how the market responds.
💡 Let’s talk more about this. what tools are working for you right now? Where are you feeling stuck?
Huge thanks to Molly Mahoney for the refreshing clarity on this one 🙌🏼
