So what makes a jacket casual?
Good question right? Answer these and see... Does your jacket □ Have a relaxed, comfortable fit? □ Prioritise comfort and everyday wear over formal tailoring? □ Use casual fabrics such as denim, cotton, canvas, corduroy, fleece or nylon? □ Have little or no shoulder padding or structured tailoring? □ Include practical features like patch pockets, zip closures, hoods or ribbed cuffs? □ Finish around the waist or hip for easy layering? □ Pair naturally with everyday outfits like jeans, T-shirts, knitwear or casual dresses? □ Suit activities like running errands, commuting or weekend outings? □ Feel more relaxed than a blazer or suit jacket? If you ticked most of these boxes, you've got a casual jacket! Find this image here

July theme announcement
Drumroll please...... This month we're diving into CASUAL JACKETS. Whether you're making a classic denim jacket, a cosy shacket, a bomber, chore jacket, utility jacket, anorak, or your own take on an everyday layer, this is your chance to build new skills while creating something you'll actually wear. Over the next few weeks we'll work through the project together using the 6-part framework, breaking the process into manageable stages so you can make steady progress without feeling overwhelmed. No matter where you're starting from, jump in, share your plans, and don't be afraid to ask questions. The whole point of Sewing Boss Learning Lab is to learn from each other and raise the standard of our sewing together.
