Are you not noticed or not a "preferred" DJ name with venues? Why?
I'm starting this Skool because in 30 years of DJing professionally I had REAL struggles that were common among DJs. Most of those other DJs failed or quit because of the struggle. We didn't have all of the easy access to beat mixing 101, equipment reviews, etc. which was a real pain. But now that all of us do, we are still missing the most crucial part of the DJ business. HOW DO I EVEN GROW A BUSINESS AND MAKE IT MY ENJOYABLE AND REWARDING FULL TIME JOB? Let's be honest, having reliable equipment helps, but the bride doesn't care about your $3000 board, your gold speaker cables, or that great carry case. She cares about everyone having a great time, being stress free, having the guests want to stay until the very end, and having the most memorable night anyone can offer. That all starts with the bride WANTING YOU to be her DJ. It doesn't magically happen! I threw myself into the fire for almost 10 years and almost gave up before I started to figure out the process. You know, the "Holy cow, you mean to tell me that's all I had to be doing to get this to work?" moment! I did everything I could to improve my sales strategies, my persona, my personal attention to details, and so on and so forth. By year 11 things started going well, like, I mean REALLY WELL! I took a few thousand dollars a year hobby and turned it into a very nice six-figure income for myself! Do you want that? If so, I'm here to teach you how to impress your future clients, become the vendors "go to" choice, and help you become the industry standard as well as having your name roll off of people's tongues when a DJ is needed. What can I assist you with to make your business go from where it is today to full on success with financial gains?

🛑 THE STANDARD: Our Community Code of Conduct (Read Before Posting)
Welcome to the inner circle. You are here because you’ve decided to stop being a "jukebox" and start being a business owner. To maintain the high-level energy required to build a Thumbprint Brand, we hold every member to a specific set of standards. By being here, you agree to the following 5 Rules of the Self Made DJ: 1. The 75/25 Rule is Absolute We don't argue about which speakers have the most bass or which controller has the best jog wheels. There are a thousand other groups for that. Here, we talk about the 75%: crowd psychology, sales psychology, safety protocols, and business systems. If your post is just "rate my setup," it will be removed. 2. This is a "No-Whine" Zone Average DJs spend their time complaining about "cheap brides," "bad venues," and "playlist-obsessed clients." Self Made DJs focus on how to solve those problems. If you have a struggle, post it as a challenge for the group to help solve, not as a vent session. We are here to level up, not look down. 3. Protect the "Secret Sauce" The tactics, scripts, and "Ice Breakers" shared in the Classroom and this forum are for members of this community only. Respect the craft and your fellow members by keeping our proprietary "Self Made DJ" methods inside these walls. 4. Community Over Competition The "Lone Wolf" DJ is a dying breed. We are building a referral network. If you see a member asking for help, give it. If you have a lead you can't fill, post it for a fellow member. We win together. 5. Extreme Ownership A Self Made DJ takes 100% responsibility for the room. If the dance floor is empty, it’s not "the crowd's vibe"—it’s our strategy. We don't blame the tools; we sharpen the skills. 🚨 What Happens If You Break The Standard? - First Offense: Your post will be deleted, and you’ll get a friendly reminder of the rules. - Second Offense: Temporary suspension from the community. - Third Offense: Permanent removal. We protect the culture of this group at all costs. HOW TO AGREE: To show you’ve read this and are ready to get to work, comment below with: "I AM SELF MADE." Once you’ve commented, head over to the Classroom tab and start your very first easy module.
🛑 STOP being a "Jukebox." Start being a Specialist. (Read This First)
Welcome to Self Made DJ. If you’re here, it’s because you’re tired of the "race to the bottom." You’re tired of competing with the $400 hobbyist who just bought a controller, and you’re ready to build a business that commands respect, premium pricing, and 5-star reviews every single time. Most DJ groups argue about which speakers have the most bass or which controller is the best. We don't do that here. In this community, we focus on the 75%—the psychology of the crowd, the art of the sale, and the elite-level customer service that turns a one-time gig into a lifetime of referrals. The Self Made DJ Rules: 1. Experience Over Equipment: Gear is a tool, but psychology is the weapon. We prioritize how guests "feel" over what cables or deck you use. 2. Community Over Competition: We are here to level up together. Share your wins, ask about your losses, and help the DJ next to you. 3. No "Cookie-Cutter" Energy: If you’re looking for a shortcut to be "just okay," this isn't the place. We build Thumbprint Brands. Since you are now part of the inner circle you may as well open up and help me build this community to help you and every other wedding DJ who comes here for information. 1. Tell us who you are and where you are from. 2. What is the #1 thing holding your business back right now? (Be honest—this is a no-judgment zone).
