Hey! I'm SO happy you're here and really hope this space gives you the strength for the harder moments and a place to celebrate the beauty you find in your mess 🌦 If you prefer to hide in the background - crack on, I get it, do what you need. If you'd love to get to know others more - go ahead and introduce yourself below! 👋🏼 * I'm Lisa, I'm 36. ♡ I've been married for 15 years and find it haaard at times! ♡ I've also been a mental health nurse for 15 years and found that equally haaard at times! I LOVE the job, but the rules and regulations both in the NHS and private sectors sometimes had me ready to lose my head - hence, starting an online space! ♡ We've got 4 kids - 8, 10, 12 & 13. ♡ We started home educating in 2020 - my eldest 2 didn't go back to school after the pandemic, my 3rd was at preschool and due to start school but didn't, and my 4th was 2 at the time and has only ever known home ed. ♡ We noticed they had Autistic and ADHD traits (one of them has also had a dyslexia pre-assessment which came back 'likely dyslexic') - but it wasn't until they went to school that we noticed how school wasn't set up to understand them and their traits didn't fit into the box that was needed to "do well" at school. Their mental health took a huge hit (my daughter's in particular) and family life became unbearable. ♡ I was emailed by the head teacher telling me how I'd fail each child by not having them in school - and I didn't have anyone around me that thought home educating was a good idea - so if you feel alone and desperate - I've got you! ♡ I've also got Autistic & ADHD traits - all of us are currently undiagnosed, the girls are on the waiting list and the boys have decided not to go for diagnosis. I'm still winging life so it's very unlikely I'll get around to filling in any extra paperwork for me anytime soon! ♡ When I was working in CAMHS Crisis Team I noticed that the VAST majority of young people I saw were undiagnosed neurodivergent. Since then, I've wanted to create a space for families to come together - receive support, relax, have fun, find meaning and live healthily.
Life!
Life suddenly got super heavy the last couple weeks & all my plans to get things done just didn’t get done! Lacie’s super creative in nature but we haven’t been out to take photos of the things she creates and we haven’t been out to take photos of the water - but, that’s life! I’m riding it instead of fighting against it! I’ve started sharing a short video on socials of the beauty I find in my mess everyday - whether it’s something that comes naturally and makes me laugh/inspires me - or whether it’s a crappy day and I’ve got to go search for it! I thought I’d share them here too, because when life feels hard it’s easy to get caught up in it and the little moments of beauty get lost. I’ve also done longer videos for YouTube but currently waiting to see if I get brave enough to post them! Aaanyway, here’s today’s beauty. If you wanted to share yours any day I’d love to see but obv no pressure! https://youtube.com/shorts/wGIzG2g_74s?si=aL9kCVL1IFZrCozr

Getting vulnerable 🫣
I’m not sure if it’s helpful or relevant for anyone in here but I just wrote as much as I think I can without upsetting anyone in a blog just because life feels so hard and I know that so many people keep it all behind doors (I did with everything with Lacie at school) but I’m hoping it can either help someone, or someone can give me amazing advice! I’ll link it below incase you wanted to read. I’ve also just remembered I forgot to link a YouTube video about the mental health questions I’ve been asked lately so I’ll link that too https://youtu.be/kx43Fj8DGSU?si=jsTs2-elDpELmsS4 https://www.skylarkhopeandjoy.co.uk/blog-1

Lola’s
We spotted the lifeboat on the beach yesterday so Lola thought she’d draw it in the sand… I really should have gone up the top to take a pic! 🫣

I couldn’t sleep 🫣
I ended up writing a blog post last night, I rarely write anymore but it helped me get thoughts out my head and I decided to post this one on my website. It’s all about school and Lacie, I realised it was 7 years ago today we took her out for a “mental health day” lesson than 2 weeks after she’d started Year 1 because she was already struggling so much. I’m not sure it’s relevant for anyone in here right now but I thought I’d share here incase anyone ever comes across it in the future and it helps x https://www.skylarkhopeandjoy.co.uk/blog-1
