Cutting the Bottom
The latest episode of the hours and the conversation at the end about cutting the bottom 10% was interesting to me. While I agree that cutting that group would make any team more efficient, I would challenge Tyler and Mark on whether that actually aligns with being a transformational coach. It’s true that we can spend too much time on that bottom 10, but I have seen too many of that bottom 10 change their lives and habits to just cut them without truly investing in them even at the cost of my own happiness at times. If success is just winning games then yes cut the bottom 10 and you’ll get better. I just believe that I can win games and build men of character. Also, I know there are strategies to change that bottom 10 without it taking up all your time and effort. A lot more could be said, and I hope I did Mark and Tyler justice. However, I would like to know what everyone else thinks. Am I wrong to think this?
