KSE-100 Index Performance (2020–2025)
Year-End KSE-100 Index Levels
2020: 43,755 points (+7.4%)
2021: 44,596 points (+1.9%)
2022: 40,420 points (-9.4%)
2023: 62,451 points (+54.5%)
2024: 115,127 points (+84.3%)
2025: 174,054 points (+51.2%)
Another concern I have is regarding the future growth expectations of the KSE-100 Index.
From 2020 to 2022, the market delivered negative or stagnant returns. However, from 2023 onwards, the KSE-100 Index experienced an extraordinary rally, rising several times within a short period.
If we simply extrapolate this recent growth rate into the future, the index could theoretically reach 700,000 points or more within the next two to three years. However, such an assumption does not seem realistic.
What is the logic behind this? Why can't we assume that the exceptional growth witnessed from 2023 onwards will continue at the same pace indefinitely?
