Matthew 6:19-21 - Treasures in Heaven
Key phrase: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Devotional:
Almost everything we're currently chasing—the stuff we work for, save for, stress about—will end up in a landfill within a few hundred years. That's not to say earthly things are bad; they're just not designed to fully satisfy us. We were created for something more. The things of this world were never meant to fill the God-shaped hole in our hearts—only a relationship with the Father can do that. When we build our lives around temporary treasures, we're setting ourselves up for disappointment. But when we invest in what lasts forever—our relationship with God, loving people, growing in faith—we discover a satisfaction that can't rust, decay, or be stolen.
Reflection:
What are you treasuring most right now? What consumes your time, money, thoughts, and energy? Is it something that will last, or something that's destined for the dump pile?
Prayer Prompt:
Ask God to reorient your heart toward eternal treasures. Pray for the wisdom to hold earthly things loosely and the desire to invest in what truly lasts—knowing Him and making Him known.
