I made $300 in public and $15K in DMs
I ran a “failed” auction on Sunday morning. At least that’s what it looked like.
I ended it at 9 AM CST. Weekend. Wrong time zone. Wrong day. People DM’d me after:
"too early on a Sunday morning lol"
"Shoot. I was asleep."
"lol yeah i guess! sunday isn't necessarily the most active day i guess"
And yet… seventeen bidders showed up. The winning bid was $300.
It almost covered my scraping costs.
Would you say it's a flop because it only made me $300?
Not even close.
Because now I’ve got sixteen hungry bidders who didn’t win. Guess who I’ll be following up with? Guess who I’ll sell a different flavor of the offer to?
The last “failed” auction I ran for the content cash machine pulled in $501 at the hammer drop. That little post went on to make me $15K in tracked revenue once I followed up and upsold.
That’s the dirty little secret.
The auction isn’t the payday. The auction is the magnet. The payday is what you do with everyone who raised their hand.
