This guidebook helps the instructor identify and explain to students how everything they do in their lives comes out in the saddle. And if it hasn’t appeared yet, I promise it will.
How you drive, how you hold your phone, every single thing you do on a regular basis is why PQR happens on the horse. You cannot change it on the horse in one hour one day a week. Therefore, you MUST make the change when you are not on the horse. At home, in the car, practice placing your body correctly.

Self coaching for riders (on lesson horses)
Gain an understanding of awareness regarding your own body while on the horse. This will allow you to begin to learn to experiment with aides. How much leg do I need? Should I use my leg closer to the girth or more behind? Often instructors fail to be clear. It’s up to you. Start noticing what you do, & wait to feel the response from the horse. Not the desired response? Try something different. Keep a journal to log your experiments, their outcomes and what it felt like. (We have journals!)
