My longevity wake-up
A quick story for anyone who feels behind on this. When I walked out at 55, I though I had it all figured out. Then we started spending more than I had calculated; I was retired after all had more time to spend. I re-did the math, and if I lived longer than my parents, say 100, my savings has to stretch close to 40+ years. One nest egg, no paycheck behind it, for four decades! That was a heavy feeling. If you have ever felt that, I get you. What fixed it was not a windfall. It was a decision I made a few years earlier to build more than one stream. Rentals, royalties, the AI tools I build, a couple of small online businesses. Now if one has a soft year, the others carry the month, and not one of them stops paying because I decided not to work that day. You do not have to solve for forty years all at once. You just need to add one stream now. That is the whole move. What is the first stream you are working on right now? I read every reply in here. -Rich

A quick AI tip from my desk this morning.
I cut 17% of the instructions I give my AI, and the results got better, not worse. Anthropic's new Claude Opus 5 actually recommends it. They cut about 80% of the rules in their own coding tool with no drop. Here is what stuck with me. Most of us over 50 built careers where specifying everything was the job. That instinct served us, and now it can slow us down. Learning to hand something off and let it run is the same skill that lets me build income streams and stay retired since I punched out at 55. The folks I learn AI from are running a free 3-Day AI For Business Summit, August 19 to 21. Full transparency, I am an affiliate so I earn if you join, but I only share it because I use it. See the first comment for the link. What is one task you would hand off first if you trusted the handoff?
How many income streams is your retirement actually depending on right now?
For a lot of us it started as one. One pension, one account, one check. That is a fragile system. Everything depends on a single source. Income stacking fixes that. You add a second stream, then a third. A few that do not rise and fall together. One stream is fragile. A stack is resilient. Vote below, then tell me in the comments what your next stream would be. No wrong answers, I just want to see where everyone is starting from. -Rich

🫵🏼 Phase 1 vs Phase 2. Which one is your plan actually solving?
🚨 Quick check. Phase 1️⃣ (Wealth-Building) is what 99% of retirement advice covers: → Max out the 401k → Buy index funds → Hold for decades → Watch the number grow Phase 2️⃣ (Income Generation) is what almost nobody teaches: → How does monthly cash flow happen when the paycheck stops? → What protects you from a market crash in year 1? → How do you keep taxes from eating 40% of your withdrawals? ‼️Most plans get you TO retirement. Far fewer get you THROUGH it. 🫵🏼 Honest question, are you still solving Phase 1, or are you working on Phase 2? ✅ Drop a comment below if Phase 2 is where you want help, that's exactly what we work on every week in the Q&A calls.👇🏻
