Understanding the other person’s process first
I’m learning about referral relationships after years in contracting, and the discussions here keep bringing me back to the other person’s responsibilities. Before asking a partner to change anything, I’d want to understand how their current process works.
What question helps you learn that in an early conversation? I’m interested in how you find out what makes a referral easy for them to handle, without assuming they work the same way you do. A general example would be helpful.
