Yo I'm Sam Walford, I'm a 16 year old from the UK and so far I've made >$8k by selling coaching to leads I've got solely from my YouTube channel which has less than 1.8k subs.
If you want a quick summary though (because this guide is LONG AF), you essentially just need to be a real human being and really connect with them to change their life. You change their life == they almost definitely buy from you.
TACTIC 1: TALK TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF
Now you might already know of this or think it doesn't apply to you, but seriously, hear me out. If you're helping people with a problem that you have solved, this tactic is OVERPOWERED.
Essentially what you need to do is create a document on your specific target avatar / ICP listing out all their conscious pains and desires, and all their deep subconscious pains and desires. Look at the image below for an example. Then you just internalise all of these into yourself, and then remember them when you record the video. Naturally you will speak much more personally and relatable, as you will be able to relate to all their deep pains and desires that they don't even consciously realise they have.
Before every video, I just skim through my document and just remind myself of them. Because at the end of the day, you're making YouTube videos to humanely give advice. There's no point being a ChatGPT replica. YOU NEED TO BE YOU!
TACTIC 2: PLAN YOUR VIDEOS LIKE THIS
Don't plan your videos too much, and don't plan them too little either. You don't want to write it word for word because that takes ages for so little ROI, but you also don't want to go raw without a plan because you end up yapping. Bullet points is my recommendation.
And to make it easy for you, I've decided to share my video scripting template. This is godly (as I have been told my many who have used it) to instantly make your videos so much better, and way more directed. I highly recommend you utilise it or create your own parody of it.
TACTIC 3: MAKE YOUR VIDEOS LOOK PROFESSIONAL
You can have 0 credibility, be terrible at speaking, and have the worst advice in your videos, but if it's recorded in a professional studio you will still get sales. Image speaks more than words do, and so if you can show you're professional and invested, rather than an amateur recording in their bedroom, people will trust you so much more.
Below you can see a screenshot of my setup. I've got experience in filmmaking and photography so I've got a bit of an advantage in this as I have all the right equipment. But in general, you just want to be sitting facing towards a window with natural lighting (NO HARSH ARTIFICIAL LIGHTS!) and you want to make sure your background isn't really messy. Make sure your camera is close to head height, make sure your head isn't cut off. If you don't want to edit your videos you don't need to, going raw isn't actually that bad.
TACTIC 4: CHANNELLING (most powerful)
I won't lie, I completely came up with this concept myself and it is kind of hard to understand, but I will do my best to explain it. It is OVERPOWERED AF if you get good at it though, and it can render obsolete everything else.
When you get into a bit of a rant, and start speaking about something you're passionate on, you need to essentially channel the deeper emotion and passion from within you and speak with that. Instead of consciously thinking of what you will say, you just let the words flow from within you. It's like an emotional flow state.
To summarise, you have to speak with your heart and not your head when you want to rant and really give a passionate rant on a topic. And if you don't think your niche really would involve passion and emotion, think again. You are helping them solve a pain point, and so their are emotions involved.
Fitness? People hate being overweight. Sales coach? People hate blundering their leads. Football coach? People hate not getting scouted.
Especially if you've gone through these pains before too, just put yourself back into your old shoes and really feel the pains that your viewer is going through.
TACTIC 5: Simple Practice
When you're a beginner to recording YouTube videos you just need to do volume and practice. You can try utilise these tactics, but nothing will help you more than just practicing recording. You need to break yourself in, get confident and flowy on camera and less robotic as most people naturally are when beginning.
And so don't bother editing the videos, don't bother putting loads of effort into the script. If you're a beginner you just need to be doing DAILY UPLOADS. Not to grow, but to get practice making videos.
If you want to get consistent with this, there's a really easy thing you can do. Just grab a sheet of paper, and write on it clearly "For every upload I miss, I will donate $10 / 10e / a decent bit of your currency to a charity I disagree with" and then put that piece of paper on your wall, and you now won't miss an upload. Simple.
If you follow all of these and get consistent with uploading, not only will your channel grow loads, you will improve your speaking skill massively and specifically for getting sales. This is how I get basically all my leads from YouTube, and by the time they get to me they're already red hot. Hope this helps you :)
