ASSIGNMENT: Anchoring Our Hope In The Biblical End
STARTING TODAY! (Unpacking the Christian Story's Conclusion) This week, our assignment is not just to debate, but to prayerfully study the final hope promised to us in scripture, ensuring our shared faith is anchored in the Bible's ultimate vision. I. Personal Study & Reflection (Due before Thursday 12/12/2025 Prayer Call): 1. The Unifying End: Read Revelation 21:1–5 and 22:1–5. What is the single, ultimate, eternal promise for all believers? • Reflection Point: How does this final vision of the New Heaven and New Earth change your priorities and your prayer life today? 2. The Debate on Timing: Read the key passages related to the believer's transition: • Thessalonians 4:13–18 (Often cited for the Rapture/being "caught up"). • Matthew 24:29–31 (Describing the Son of Man's return "immediately after the tribulation"). • Compare & Contrast: Based on these two passages, what are the differences, if any, in the timing or details of when Christ gathers His people? Do you see a distinction between believers escaping hardship and enduring persecution? II. Prayer Group Discussion Prompts: 1. Defining Our Hope: What is the single most comforting image you draw from Revelation 21 and 22, and how can we pray for each other to remain steadfastly focused on that final hope? 2. Navigating Disagreement: Regarding the differing interpretations (Pre-Tribulation, Post-Tribulation, etc.): • How can we maintain unity and love in the group despite holding different views on the timing of end-time events? • What are the practical dangers of focusing too much on the debate over how we exit this world, compared to focusing on the mission we have while we are still here? 3. Actionable Prayer: Let's pray specifically for persecuted Christians globally. How does the promise of Christ's ultimate return and the abolition of all suffering inform our prayers for those currently experiencing "tribulation"? Goal of the Assignment: To move beyond simply knowing the events of the end times, and into actively living out the hope of the end times, thereby strengthening our unity and mission focus
