Welcome. This group exists for one thing: getting you to send the first email to a college coach. Most athletes never send one. Not because they can’t — because nobody tells them what to say and the first one is terrifying. So that’s what we do here. Three things to do now: 1. Say hello. Comment below with your athlete’s sport, grad year and the state you’re in. That’s it. 2. Read one thing. “How to Email a College Coach (With an Example)” at recruitgrid.app/resources. It’s free and it has an actual email in it you can copy. 3. Post a draft in First Emails. Any state — rough is fine. Someone will read it and tell you what to cut. The one rule: no selling. No recruiting services, no showcases, no DMs pitching anything. This is families helping families. I’ll remove anything else without a conversation. I’m Angela. I’m a basketball mom in Las Vegas and I built RecruitGrid because everything out there either didn’t work or cost more than a season of club ball. I read every post.
First Emails
Paste your draft below and you’ll get it back with notes. Rough drafts welcome, that’s the point. Include: the sport, the school and the coach you’re writing to. What gets looked at: Is the coach’s name right, and is it the coach who recruits your position or region? Does the first line say who you are, your grad year and your position? Is the film link in the first three lines, and does it open without a login? Is it under 150 words? Is there one clear thing you’re asking for? Sent one this week? Say so, even if there’s no reply yet. Sending is the win. Replies come later and they come to people who sent more than one.
