You know what they say the first rule of holes is?
👉 When you’re in one, stop digging.
In Poker, that could mean:
- Stop chasing losses.
- Don’t keep calling down when you know you’re beat.
- Don’t double down on tilt.
- If you’re frustrated, bleeding chips, or playing hands you shouldn’t, the hole just gets deeper.
- Recognize sunk costs. Just because you’ve already invested preflop or on earlier streets doesn’t mean you’re “pot-committed" if you are getting shitty odds.
- Fold when you’re beat. Especially to nits!
- Preserve your stack or just quit the game if it's not good.
One thing I heard a long time ago from Tommy Angelo was in regards to win rate per hour, and how much you're stuck in a session.
For example, if you're down 1000 in a session, and your hourly rate is 50 an hour, you should just quit the game.
Why? Because you're not playing your A-game and it will take you 20 hours or A game play to earn!
