5 week accountability + thoughts and questions!!
Tara, Greg, and I met on Zoom last night to talk about Module 1 and review our 5-week goal and action plan! My Goal: I want to move to a stronger Texas agency where I’ll have more opportunities for film and TV auditions, not just commercials. I keep hearing from others in the area about all the film and TV projects happening in Texas and the auditions they’re getting, but my agency hasn’t shared much in that space. Whenever my friends or I bring it up with our agent, he just says things have been slow. I remember one of my acting coaches telling me about four years ago that my current agent was more of a C-level option in Texas—fine to start with, but not the strongest. Action Plan: - Research top-tier agencies in Texas (currently looking at Linda McAllister Agency, which also represents in LA!). - Connect with actors/coaches who are signed with these agencies or know the agents personally to learn about the opportunities they’re receiving and, if possible, ask for referrals for the ones I know and have worked with. - Submit applications to the agencies. - Once I secure new representation, make a clear plan for how to transition away from my current agency. @Mike Chat and anyone else who might know—what’s the best way to gauge the credibility of an agency in the area? Specifically, how can I tell if they have access to stronger breakdowns? I’ve started using IMDbPro to see who’s signed with them and what types of projects their clients are booking as a starting point. Do you have any other tips or strategies I should try? Thanks so much!
