Homophobic people try to convince us that being gay and happy is something we should feel bad about, something we need to earn, or something we need permission to do. Joy, however, is resistance, survival, and evidence that they did not break you. Today, I want us to remember a small, everyday thing that made us happy. It could be a song, an outfit, a conversation, or just a moment of silence.
