Hey friends, If you're looking for a professional to assist you with one or more parts of your publishing process, and you aren't sure what the going rate is, here is an easy chart to look up a range of what you will pay based on your project. Author's Brew Coffee Chat
Hi All! We had a great Author's Brew Coffee Chat today. Fantastic questions came about such as, "What stories should I put into my book" and "What are endorsements? How do I go about receiving endorsements?" One of our members shared the checklist her publisher gave her, saying, "They are telling me I have to do all the work!" I also have some great resources from this meeting, which I will share here (and in the resources section of our community) A People's Guide to Publishing by Joe Biel for anyone who wants the start-to-finish process and advice from a Portland, Oregon publisher. I found this book while I was on a cruise and stopped at an indie bookstore in Ketchican (and I'm from Portland!) amzn.to/4owZl99 Save the Cat! Writes a Novel The first novel-writing guide from the best-selling Save the Cat! story-structure series, which reveals the 15 essential plot points needed to make any novel a success. Novelist Jessica Brody presents a comprehensive story-structure guide for novelists that applies the famed Save the Cat! screenwriting methodology to the world of novel writing. Revealing the 15 "beats" (plot points) that comprise a successful story--from the opening image to the finale--this book lays out the Ten Story Genres (Monster in the House; Whydunit; Dude with a Problem) alongside quirky, original insights (Save the Cat; Shard of Glass) to help novelists craft a plot that will captivate--and a novel that will sell. https://amzn.to/4oHal45 My Podcast episode on the four levels of editing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0e0aAP8fyU
