I've been playing with belief and emotions as magic systems lately.
In what way does an emotion manifest in a corrupted or an optimal form?
How helpful would it be if I organized the vast slew of emotions with all of their associated function, cost and risk?
To rethink the human experience in a more playful way as if experiences and behaviors are spells that we can cast really sparks something within me. I want to make emotional literacy as accessible and understandable as possible - and I haven't seen it done this way yet!
We could learn how to cast better spells! Much like Anger:
Casting 'Anger' may temporarily boost strength, confidence and sense of justice. While risking the accuracy of delivering your intended harmony. Anger may be an inherently 'chaotic' form of magic, yet it can be tamed and improved upon accuracy if paired with a 'Patience' spell. TOO MUCH patience may counter the strength of Anger, accidentally forming a spell of 'Resentment' or 'pacifism.' There is an appropriate amount of both anger and patience for optimal action and deliver of intended outcome. Ya feel?!
I might do an entire thread of these and share the evolutions to communally develop the 'recipes' we could call them. 😆
CHALLENGE: Pick any emotion or behaviour and try to create the function of the 'spell' and what potential cost and gain may universally come from it. Quite a fun, creative practice!
