Phase 0 — Web Foundations & JavaScript
Phase 0 — Web Foundations & JavaScript
Weeks 1–8. The raw vanilla fundamentals, hand-coded from scratch — no shortcuts, no AI assist yet. What the web and internet is and how do they work, dev environment and Git, HTML & CSS (two parts), JavaScript fundamentals (two parts), and DOM manipulation and events & more. Everything later in the program leans on this being solid: the goal here is muscle memory —writing full pages and scripts by hand until nesting, selectors, syntax, DOM APIs etc. stop requiring a lookup.

Phase 1 — Async JS & the Event Loop
Weeks 9–11. One focused course on the concept that makes or breaks debugging ability for everything that follows: callbacks, Promises, async/await, and the event loop. Short, hand-built, and worth getting genuinely solid on before moving into anything that touches a network request.

Phase 2 — SPA Concepts & Core React
Weeks 12–18. TypeScript, intermediate Git/GitHub workflows, and core React. TypeScript is mostly read-and-evaluate — learn to read it fluently and use it well, rather than memorizing every generic pattern. React is hand-coded first: real components built by hand before AI assistance enters the picture, so the instinct to catch a subtle AI mistake has something to stand on.

Phase 3 — Backend, APIs & Databases
Weeks 19–26. The server side. Node.js fundamentals, REST API design, and database/ORM schema work are hand-built — the parts where a wrong decision is expensive and AI can't be trusted to just "know." Express conventions and deployment tooling are read-and-evaluate: know how to direct AI to build them and catch it when it's wrong, without hand-writing every line yourself.

Phase 4A — Auth & Security
Weeks 27–31. Authentication, authorization, and security fundamentals, taught together — real vulnerabilities and real failure modes, not just "it works on my machine." Both hand-built: this is exactly the kind of code where "AI wrote it and it ran" is not the same as "it's actually safe."

Phase 4B — Payments & Modern Frameworks
Weeks 32–34. Real payment integration and webhook handling, plus rendering-strategy awareness — CSR vs SSR vs SSG, and when each one actually matters. Mostly read-and-evaluate: conceptual ground to cover quickly so he can direct

Phase 5 — Agent Orchestration, MCP, RAG & Evals
Weeks 35–43. The layer that ties everything together: systems vision (hand-built throughout — this is judgment, not syntax), real AI-augmented engineering (agent orchestration, evals, and LLM safety hand-built; prompting patterns and API wiring read-and-evaluate), and testing (the judgment of what to test is hand-built; the library syntax is read-and-evaluate). This is what makes him able to actually supervise AI everywhere else in the stack.
