Overcoming adversity
Being Dylan’s younger brother, I’ve known him since the beginning, and he’s been with me through everything I can think of. There’s a lot I could talk about, but the first thing that comes to mind is perseverance. Growing up watching my brother play basketball showed me a lot. Throughout his time playing, there were so many things that tried to hold him back or make him quit, but he never did. He pushed through horrible coaches and fought through everyone who didn’t believe in him or tried to keep him down. Seeing the time and effort he put in every day to get better made me want to do the same and play a sport too, even though I had never tried before. I played volleyball for all four years of high school, and there were so many hard moments and times I wanted to give up that I can’t even count. But whenever I wanted to quit, I always thought, “If your brother never quit, how could you?”
Dylan taught me to never give up and never quit, even when everyone including myself wanted me to.
