Where attention goes, energy flows. The more you pay attention and focus on the negative shit around you, the more energy you give to that thing.
I was in the airplane 2 days ago, and there was a baby crying. I didn't realise it at the moment, but I paid attention to the baby for a few minutes.
Mind you, I PAID attention. I cannot get that attention back. I paid, and got no ROI.
As I'm paying more attention to the baby, I notice some thoughts coming up in my mind.
"Who the fuck travels with children bro"
"I fucking hate economy class"
"Peasants"
Within seconds of thinking these thoughts, I started to feel the associated emotions. Frustration. Agitation. Stress.
Within seconds, my teeth clenched, my breathing shortened, and my brows were locked in like a predator about to eat dinner.
And then, bang. I broke out. I realised, "why the fuck am I paying attention to this shit".
You cannot control your first thought, but you can control whether you will keep attaching to that thought or move your attention elsewhere.
What are you paying attention to?
