This one's for my agency owners..
Your project ended.
Your client didn't get the memo.
Sound familiar..
You handed off the funnel. Pages live. Checkout tested. Client signed off.
Then the emails start.
"Hey just a quick question.." "Can you check something real fast.." "Something looks off.."
And you answer. Because you built it. Because you care. Because it's just five minutes.
Except it's never five minutes.
😮
Here's the actual problem:
Your contract had a start date. It didn't have a real end date.
No formal handoff. Just a delivery that quietly turns into free ongoing support.
I've talked to a bunch of agency owners about this. Every single one does it.. or did. Including me.
Here's what changed it for me.
I stopped treating delivery as the finish line and started treating it as the setup.
Build the transition INTO the original agreement.
30-day handoff period with maintenance. Clear in the contract from day one.
At the end of 30 days, the project phase is officially done.
Here's how you make the offer.
"I'm going to set up continuous monitoring on your funnel and send you monthly reports so we can track improvement.. It watches 12 health signals around the clock.. uptime, SSL, your purchase journey, page speed, email deliverability, all of it. When something breaks, I know before you do. Every month you get a report showing what we caught and what it would've cost you. That protection is $X/month."
Clients don't say no to protecting revenue they're already spending to generate.
Imagine never doing another free hour on a closed project again.. because the relationship has a structure, a scope, and a monthly line item.
