Then, when you need care, you may be told: “That isn’t covered.” “You haven’t met your deductible.” “You need prior authorization.” “That provider is out of network.” And suddenly, the insurance you have been paying for may not feel very helpful. If you have ever wondered whether health insurance is a scam, you are not alone—and you are not wrong for asking the question. Over the next 100 days, Let’s Talk About It! Is Health Insurance a Scam? will examine 100 honest questions about health insurance. Together, we will separate feelings from facts, uncover how the system actually works, and identify what consumers can do when their coverage does not work the way they expected. But this conversation begins with you. Right now, which answer comes closest to how you feel? A. Yes, health insurance feels like a scam. B. Sometimes—especially when coverage is denied or costs are unexpected. C. No, but the system is confusing and unnecessarily difficult. D. You’re still trying to decide. Comment with A, B, C, or D.
