Sterilized Cartridges
I feel like I am overthinking this too much…
So what’s everyone actually doing with their cartridges? Are you just trusting that they come sterilized from the vendor? Because just seeing the color strip on the packet change doesn’t necessarily mean it’s truly sterile.
I’ve been reading that some people are running them through an Instapot or even a tabletop autoclave that can hit the right PSI. But here’s the issue — the packets still come out damp. And moisture acts like a sponge that can pull bacteria back in. That’s why in medical settings, damp packs are automatically considered non-sterile.
Even if you dry them in the oven afterward, there’s still that window of time between the Instapot/autoclave and when you lay them out — which is enough for bacteria to get drawn in.
So I’m just curious — what’s everyone else doing? Are you trusting the vendor’s sterilization, or are you re-sterilizing somehow?
