Conduct & Communication
∙ Speak truthfully and listen actively to others—seek genuine understanding
∙ Disagree respectfully – challenge ideas, never attack people
∙ Use “I” statements to express your personal perspectives
∙ No personal attacks, slurs, or dehumanizing language – ever
∙ Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information shared in discussions
Participation & Engagement
∙ Everyone has the right to speak and be heard
∙ Create space for quieter voices – don’t monopolize discussions
∙ Show up on time and come prepared
∙ Participate in good faith, seeking understanding rather than winning arguments
∙ Respect different learning styles and paces
Safety & Boundaries
∙ Zero tolerance for harassment, intimidation, or threats
∙ Respect personal space and consent
∙ Protect vulnerable community members
∙ Address conflicts through dialogue and mediation first
∙ Remove individuals who pose safety risks after a fair process
Shared Responsibility
∙ Everyone helps maintain the physical and emotional space
∙ Share resources and knowledge generously
∙ Support newer members in understanding the movement’s values
∙ Hold each other accountable with compassion
∙ Commit to ongoing learning about oppression, liberation, and social change
Decision-Making
∙ Use consensus or democratic processes for major decisions
∙ Ensure transparency in how decisions are made
∙ Create pathways for feedback and concerns
∙ Review rules periodically and adapt as needed
Specific Guidelines
∙ No recording others without explicit consent
∙ Cell phones on silent during group work (unless accessibility needs require otherwise)
∙ No substances that impair judgment during learning sessions
∙ Rotate facilitation roles to build collective leadership
∙ Address harm directly and seek restoration rather than punishment
