In life it happens as in any cinema:
There is a perfect, immovable, imperturbable screen… and upon it the current movie is projected.
When you sleep deeply, without dreams, you are like that screen: Pure, silent, intact.
But as soon as the projection begins—thoughts, emotions, body, world—“life” begins.
Now then…
You can live identified with the projection, believing you are the character, the drama, the conflict…
Or you can recognize yourself as the screen: What never changes, what is always there, what needs nothing.
- The projection comes and goes.
- The screen remains.
- The projection suffers.
- The screen rests.
- The projection seeks.
- The screen already is.
