I haven’t disappeared…
although my own business might be wondering where I went. 😂 I’ve been helping organize a wildfire relief telethon here in Northern Nevada—reaching out to businesses for sponsorships, connecting with musicians and entertainers, and helping find volunteers. Families have lost homes and belongings, and with the holidays coming, I wanted to do something useful. I still do. But I’ll be honest: this has taken considerably more time and energy than I expected. There are important pieces still waiting on confirmation, and I’m learning how hard it is when the next step depends on someone else following through. Meanwhile, people are responding, offering to help, and looking to me for answers I don’t always have. We’re now less than a month from the event, and I care about seeing it happen—but my own business needs me too. I’m sharing this because I suspect somebody here has been in this position: you say yes because you care, then realize you’ve taken on more responsibility than you actually have control over. How have you stepped back to a manageable role without abandoning the people you originally wanted to help?
