The First Draft Nobody Sees
One thing writing has taught me is that the first draft is rarely meant to be impressive. It’s meant to be honest.
Some days the words feel awkward. Other days they feel unfinished or scattered. But those imperfect drafts are where the real thinking happens.
Every polished piece of writing I’ve seen started as something rough that simply needed time and attention.
Writers here, I’d love to hear from you.
When you're drafting, do you focus on getting it right the first time, or do you allow yourself to write freely and shape it later?
