Why Obsidian and not something else?
A new member just asked, "what about Top alternatives to Obsidian and Notion include Anytype (local-first, object-based), Logseq (outliner, privacy-focused), AppFlowy (open-source Notion clone), and Craft (native, design-focused). These options provide strong alternatives for privacy, speed, and knowledge management depending on whether you prefer local files or structured databases." and I decided I would answer it here.
Notion and the others don't have a CLI. Also when you have too much infrastructure already in the other tool it costs a lot (in terms of tokens) for the AI to learn it. This is very common and why, experienced operators don't want to use MCPs. They are mostly a bloated mess. See this post on X and also this one. Maybe I need to do an Article on this?
The whole industry is standardizing on Obsidian. Just search Obsidian and OpenClaw on X and you will learn exactly why.
