Does Album Sequencing Still Matter In the Streaming Era?
"Although the way that people listen to music has changed significantly in recent years, with the rise of streaming and on-demand services, the impact of album sequencing on the overall listening experience has not diminished."
I think it absolutely matters even if it changes how a listener receives the music I still don't know anyone putting new albums on shuffle. They may skip to their favorite song(s), repeat them a zillion times but still at some point may listen to the album start to bottom or at least try to. I think it's important to define what the album is for a particular artist and project. It may be a collection of songs the artist thought fit well or it could actually have a theme regardless the sequencing would still matter when a listener sat down to digest the album.
