“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
— James 4:8
DEVOTIONAL
Most men want a strong faith… without a strong pursuit.
They want clarity… without consistency.
They want spiritual power… without spiritual discipline.
But the truth is simple:
You cannot become a man of God by accident.
Every strong man of God you respect—past or present—became strong because he pursued God daily. Not perfectly. Not for hours at a time. But consistently.
The enemy doesn’t need to destroy you.
He just needs to distract you.
Because a distracted man becomes a drifting man, and a drifting man becomes a defeated man.
But a man who draws near to God daily becomes dangerous.
He gains discernment.
He gains stability.
He gains emotional strength.
He gains clarity in decision-making.
He gains resistance against temptation.
He gains a sense of mission and direction.
Daily pursuit isn’t about checking a box.
It’s about building a relationship.
Your wife needs a man connected to God.
Your kids need a father anchored in Scripture.
Your future needs the wisdom that only comes from time with the Father.
You don’t have to spend an hour in the Word. Start with 10 intentional minutes.
Bible open.
Phone away.
Mind engaged.
Heart humble.
When you pursue God daily, you don’t just become more spiritual—you become more stable, more purposeful, more dangerous to the enemy, and more aligned with the man God built you to be.
God is not hiding.
He is not distant.
He is not playing hard to get.
He is waiting for you to draw near—so He can meet you with strength.
Today, choose pursuit.
Not tomorrow.
Not when life slows down.
Not “after the holidays.”
Today.
ACTION STEP
Spend 10 focused minutes alone with God today.
Bible open.
Phone in another room.
Ask these three simple questions:
- God, what do You want to show me?
- What do You want to change in me?
- What do You want me to do today?
Write down what you sense.
REFLECTION QUESTION
What excuse has been keeping me from daily time with God—and what does my life look like when I remove that excuse?
PRAYER
Father, draw me closer to You. Give me a hunger for Your presence and Your Word. Break my excuses, quiet my distractions, and meet me in my daily pursuit. Shape me into a man who seeks You first and walks with You consistently. Amen.
