This week I had a small quest and It really helped me to discover some simple stuff once put into practice. It was a case of learning a cover for some to have a go at in a group setting and in the process of discovering the chords and the duration they are played. Singing the notes, visualising the chord shapes and verbally saying them out loud while listening back to the track the chord sequence stuck and I was able to play it throughout once I got home. This is much easier to do if you pick a song you listen to regularly. In this case for me it was Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd and the only reason I did it was for a group who chose it to be on their set and they were struggling to deliver it for the last three weeks so this should be sorted for them next rehersal. There is something about playing music with others that some other things just do not come close Also playing an instrument live with other players is a lot more phisical and it builds up your chops and confidence over a period of time Also you can learn new methods build on dynamics learn where to play and not to play with the other players while they do their parts After a while you will rely on feel and what comes out in a given moment is in most cases the final result.

What has come up for you in practice this week? For me I have been in a room with a few guys puting together a set for they go out and play. Not so much on the creative with them but on the learning of how to play some covers together to develop with something more familiar. On the other part for me I have done a little creative work earlier today. Putting down some guitar parts and adding some backing vocals to a track put together by my co creative partner in chrime. It will be completed quite quickly and It will be on to the next six songs. Tell what you have been up to 🙏🎶😊🎸
