If you already set up your LLC in the state of Texas, be sure you are filing your Franchise Tax Reports by May 15th every year to keep it ACTIVE. If your LLC is inactive, it will need to be reinstated. You will need to file all the past due reports, and request a tax clearance to reinstate. You will need your Webfile Number if you want to file your reports online, and you will have to pay a $50 penalty for each reporting year. So if your LLC was set up in 2023, and became inactive in 2024… You’ll have to file 2024, 2025, and 2026 Franchise Taxes to get caught up and at $50 per year that’s $150. PLUS the state of Texas will charge you $75 to reinstate your entity. It’s best to stay on top of things like that because that negatively impacts so many areas for your business, including qualifying for business loans and grants.
