Welcome to New Income Streams for Financial Advisers - Start here
Welcome to New Income Streams for Financial Advisers. This group has been created for forward-thinking advisers and financial planners who believe the future of advice may be bigger than many people realise! We’ll be exploring ideas around: - AI - new business models - memberships & communities - workshops & education - digital products and courses - scalable expertise - marketing & visibility - ...and new ways advisers may be able to create impact and income This is not about hype, abandoning financial advice or chasing “get rich quick” ideas. It’s about thoughtful discussion, practical experimentation and exploring where the profession may be heading next. Some ideas discussed here may work brilliantly. Others may not! That’s OK. The goal is to create a space where advisers can think differently, share openly and learn from each other. Take a moment to say hello below: 1. where you’re based 2. what type of adviser/planner you are 3. what interests you most about the future of advice or new income streams Great to have you here. Welcome to the Collaborative Financial Planning Book Project!
Firstly, thank you to everyone who has decided to take part. This project brings together financial advisers, planners and related professionals to contribute a chapter, story, insight or perspective to a collaborative book focused on financial planning, client relationships, money, life lessons and the many things advisers have always wanted the public to better understand. Some chapters may be practical. Some may be personal. Some may challenge conventional thinking. Others may simply help people feel more confident about money and financial planning. And that’s exactly the point. The project is intentionally broad because every adviser sees the world slightly differently and has different experiences, expertise and lessons worth sharing. For those members not taking part, this is a collaborative publishing project where contributors each write a chapter which will become a published multi-author book available through Amazon. The aim is not just to produce a book, but to help advisers: - Build visibility and credibility - Share their expertise with a wider audience - Open new conversations and opportunities - Potentially create additional income streams - Contribute positively to improving financial understanding A book can become far more than “just a book”. It can become a business card, a conversation starter, a trust-builder and an introduction to people who may never otherwise engage with financial advice. We’ll use this thread for: - Updates and announcements - Questions and answers - Chapter ideas - Writing support - Deadlines and timelines - General discussion around the project If you’re taking part, please feel free to introduce yourself below and perhaps share the rough direction or theme you’re considering for your chapter. I think this could become something very special! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not yet taking part? Join us here https://adviserbook.netlify.app/

Almost a third of retirees report worse standard of living
An interesting and slightly worrying statistic from recent retirement research: 31% of retirees said (probably not surprisingly) that their standard of living was actually worse in retirement than when they were working. Many admitted they underestimated: - how much money they would need - how long retirement would last - and the long-term impact of inflation and rising living costs What struck me is that this may not just be a financial planning issue. It may also be a financial education issue. Because many people still don’t fully understand: what retirement really costs how long money may need to last how inflation quietly erodes spending power over time or the lifestyle trade-offs that can emerge later in life Which raises an interesting question for advisers: How could financial education play a bigger role in helping people prepare emotionally, psychologically and practically for retirement - not just financially? Interested in members’ thoughts.
