In Honor of Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
Happy Martin Luther King Jr Day everyone -- I wanted to share this with you all, especially those of you in the US, who are frightened with the events occurring in Minneapolis. This is a frightening time, but when we come together, honor our ancestors, everything this country has been through, and embody the ideals of Freedom this country stands for (regardless of the colonial history and demonic agendas that seek to taint it) THAT WE ARE BOUND TOGETHER, and we shall overcome together
I find it fitting that just as the New Moon in Capricorn asks us to get clear on what we are building, to get on the ground floor and do the practical work, in the face of Chaos, the spirit of this Great Man returns to remind us that when we work in community, day by day, not because its flashy, certainly not because it is safe, WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD. We are reminded that it took the American community's relentless spirit of resistance to boycott, to fight, nonviolently, for equality. That it takes discipline to realize Vision. That its not enough to just have a Dream. We must DEVOTE OUR LIVES AND OUR WORK TO THAT DREAM, TOGETHER.
Dr Martin Luther King Jr is a myth of a man — His dream resonates through all of our hearts on this day and reminds us even beyond the grave that Peace is Possible. He has gone down in history as proof of what is possible when we align our actions with our faith, organize our communities. He left us in America with a mantle to take up — to complete his mission on Earth and bring Peace and Love and Equality to all people! To see beyond race and class, but not to dishonor the ancestral lines that brought us into those constructs. To seek knowledge. To seek truth. Grounded in faith and spiritual community. He was a brilliant man, a brave leader. He taught us to play this game smart, to organize, to resist with nonviolence and love and unity.
Times in this country and the world are dark. Things will never be the same. And the same foes that stood against Dr King then are metastasized today. This is a different story. But the moral is the same.
We must remember We Are One people. And we have the Power to Change the trajectory of history. The pen is in our hands. His legacy lives on in our hearts. All we need to do is remember: He had A Dream. And Dreams Do Come True when we Believe, and we act in alignment with those dreams.
I know you are scared. I’m scared too. But we have each other. We are bound together.
We shall Overcome. Now is not the time to despair, it is the time for Hope. The time to Unite. And Dream. Dream Big. Believe. Have Faith. Organize. And Do the Work.
Here is a little reel I shared, covering one of my favorite songs by my absolute favorite musical human on the planet earth James Taylor. I highly suggest you all put Shed a Little Light on your liberation playlists. Its a banger
Peace and Love my Friends
