Let's start here - never read Tarot?
If you're brand new to Tarot and are starting to think, this is A LOT of stuff. It can be, but it doesn't have to be. This is the thing about Tarot - you can take as long as you want, read how you want or just do what you feel comfortable doing. As you settle into reading, you might just want to start by looking at the cards. That's all, just observing. Like an image. What do you see? Can you describe what the image is and what is contained on the card? This doesn't require any knowledge of Tarot history or occult teaching. Observe. Then you can look at them and make some notes about how they make you feel? Do they remind you of things or people in your life? You will be surprised how quickly you learn just from your observations and subtle recollections. It's a bit like a language. You are not native to the land, so you're trying to understand what is being said. When I went to Paris, I didn't speak French. They made it look so easy - because they've known it their whole life. I was a tourist. You might feel like that with Tarot when you start. Let me remind you that my Tarot isn't your Tarot and your Tarot isn't my Tarot. You will have your own method of connectivity and interpretation - my path is aligned with esoteric teaching from TGD but also Astrology - you might choose not to take that path. So start just by observing, putting your deck on the floor. Lay them out, group them, look at each of the characters. The imagery and iconongraphy within cards may appear simple, but I can assure you it can be years before you reach all facets of why and how the symbols work together. I still find new things every day. So welcome to the geek club. I am so excited for you and whether or not you're super fresh, or you've dabbled for a while or you know your scales, come and hang. Just ask, we're all here to help. Just jump!
