Let them talk.

People will create stories about you from the version of you they remember. They will judge your choices, question your changes, misunderstand your silence and sometimes even try to convince you that you are becoming someone you shouldn’t be.

Let them.

You don’t have to correct every opinion. You don’t have to explain every decision. You don’t have to make yourself smaller so someone else can feel comfortable with the person you are becoming.

Their words are information about their perception of you. They are not a definition of you.

At some point, you have to stop handing strangers, family, friends and even people who love you the authority to tell you who you are.

You know what you have survived.

You know what you have learned.

You know what you are becoming.

Let them talk.

You have a life to live that doesn’t require their permission.
