The Power of Awareness
After things feel calm, ordinary, even settled,
the old state often comes back.
Not because you failed.
But because it’s been practiced longer.
Neville never said states disappear overnight.
He said they lose power when you stop identifying with them.
So today isn’t about surprise when an old reaction shows up.
It’s about recognition.
You may notice familiar thoughts.
Old emotions in the body.
The impulse to explain, justify, or spiral.
This is not regression.
This is awareness catching the habit in motion.
The mistake is thinking you need to fix it.
You don’t.
The moment you see,
“This is an old state trying to reassert itself,”
you are already free of it.
No drama.
No guilt.
No self-judgment.
Neville reminded us that awareness itself is the redeemer.
You don’t fight the state —
you simply don’t return to it.
Today’s quiet practice is this:
When the old feeling appears,
don’t ask why.
Don’t argue with it.
Just ask:
“Am I willing to continue being this — or do I remain as awareness?”
And then… stay.
That staying is the work.
