Your Second Heart/Lymphatic Pump??!!??!!
Well, as far as circulation goes, your heart doesn't work alone. I continually remind my clients at the Neuro Power Center that the 4 major sources of impulse/signals to the brain (in order of importance and area occupied in brain) are:
  1. Vision
  2. Vestibular
  3. Position & Movement of the Neck
  4. Proprioception from the Feet
This said, we have more lymph fluid floating in our body than we do blood... 4 TIMES THE AMOUNT! ... but unlike the circulatory system and heart, our lymphatic system has no pump... or does it!?!?!
Our legs muscles perform the heroic task if pushing venous blood from your legs back to your heart, defying gravity every time they contract/MOVE. That's why some people called the soles muscle the "second heart"!
Why is it so important? Because when you activate it can:
- Improve circulation
- Prevent blood clots and venous stasis
- Reduces leg swelling
- Protect your cardiovascular health
- Support and Pump your Immune/Lymphatic System
So... What can you do for it? Give it movement. If you spend many hours sitting or standing:
- Walk for a few minutes
- Lift your heels repeatedly
- Flex your ankles
- Make circles with your feet
- Squat 10 times whenever you remember to do so...
... if that sounds like a lot when the thought crosses your mind because you just did some an hour ago... then just do 3!
If you thought of it, your body is craving it!!!
Small actions over time produces results you and others will notice! Get moving!!!
