My name is Gina Ruiz.
My child is a 21-year-old young adult. She is autistic, has high abilities, and also struggles with anxiety and depression.
The biggest challenge we are facing right now is helping her become more independent and strengthen her executive functioning skills. She also recently ended a three-year relationship, so I want to support her through this breakup in a healthy way, especially because making and maintaining friendships can be difficult for her.
What I want most for my daughter is for her to become a happy, independent, and functional adult. I want her to be able to build and maintain long-lasting friendships, continue her education and graduate in Psychology, and develop the skills she needs to succeed and remain stable in a job.
One thing I hope to get from this community is guidance and practical strategies to help her develop stronger executive functioning and social skills, become more independent, and navigate this new stage of her life after her breakup.
